Kinja'd!!!

I couldn’t stray from my now apparent Toyota bias. I traded in the Taco on a new 2019 Nautical Blue SR5 Premium 4Runner.

What had become apparent in the last little while is that a pickup bed wasn’t needed for my DD. 99% of the time, the most it got was hockey gear. The Tacoma was a great truck, and it stayed with me for nearly 4 years. In the end though, I was ready for a change and ready for something a little more comfortable for me and my family.

The numbers? 45 months of Tacoma cost $4135 in depreciation. The dealer gave me $27k for trade in. I picked up the new 4Runner for $36,484 about $4k under MSRP . Options are sunroof, third row seat, floor mats, running boards, and I think that’s it. Had the Off Road offered the third row, I probably would gone that route. We won’t use it often, but we will be glad to have it when needed. My son will fit back there for a while, yet.

Boulder Toyota was actually easy to deal with. I thought the price was fair, the trade in was fair, and it was only one “trip to the manager” negotiations.

Will I miss the truck? Sure. I’m also sure the 4Runner is the right vehicle for us right now, and hopefully for a long while. Plus it opens up the possibility of a sweet old pickup for a project.

Better day time shots to come tomorrow. Bye, Taco!

No surprise at all. Toyota makes the best cars and trucks :o)

When I went to get the Taco, I was going to get blue and ended up red. When I went to get the 4Runner, I was going to get red, and got blue. Go figure.

I like that it’s very familiar controls, yet different enough to be different inside. Happy with the purchase!

I need some WeatherTechs, and I really don’t care for  the base wheels. Naturally, the dealer offered to finance some wheels for me. Ha.

Nice, I like !!! Would’ve been my first guess if others hadn’t already guessed it.

Tbh if they made these with a stick there’s a decent chance one would be occupying my garage instead of the Taco. The advantages/disadvantages of the two pretty much balance out for me personally, but the manual really tipped the scales to the Taco.

Congrats on the new 4Runner! Great color too! I’m really curious as to what Toyota plans to do for the redesign of the 4Runner...

Nice choice. I went from Tacoma to 4Runner as well. FN W heels makes some great wheels just for Toyota trucks.

You can find various TRD=wheels on ebay for under $700/set. I got my dad a set for his 4runner for under $600 by buying them on a day that ebay had a %15 off everything coupon code.

The TRD wheels look a ton better than the stock ones he had.

Very nice! I grew up in a 4Runner and have had two third gens as an adult. I plan on buying either a 5th gen Trail or a sixth gen (depending on what they end up being)  in the next few years.

I can see wheels/tires, but that’s probably it. It’ll be the family truckster, but will see the occasional light trail.

I really like the blue, although it’s a  little weird having two blue SUVs in the garage, but I’ll manage.

Fresh sheetmetal, fresh interior, Tacoma powertrain, probably will match the different new toys the Tacoma has but with a nicer interior . Not exciting, but Toyota knows why people buy the Land Cruiser, 4Runner, Tundra and Tacoma and the slow incremental updates aren’t laziness. They don’t put the resources into their trucks and SUVs to compete with the big three or Land Rover(in the LC’s case)   on having the latest and greatest things, they sell on people who want their vehicle to last a decade or more, and know it will because their last one did and this new one isn’t all that different.

Important question: does it have the slide-out cargo tray in the back? that thing has a 200kg capacity.

It does not. I don’t believe it’s available with the third row.

The numbers? 45 months of Tacoma cost $4135 in depreciation.

That’s impressive...I’ve learned that the current truck market only makes sense if buying new or over 10 years old. Used prices on anything in between are too close to new to not do it.

Especially at the dealer I went to, they significantly overprice their used vehicles. I’d be willing to bet they’ll list my Tacoma for $31k, or $400 less than what I paid new. They have a 2006 Land Cruiser with 185k on it...they want $30k for it.

Omg that depreciation has me thinking I could sacrifice a lot for that! My A4 lost more than that, except it was already 10 years old and worth a third as much.
